Year by Year is funded by a single type of link, marked Ad: a paid link pointing to an online casino partner. Those links appear on the home page and on no other page of the site.
The three Ad links
The home page holds three paid links, and the label Ad marks every one. The first sits in the menu, the second in a section just beneath the opening screen, and the third at the foot of the page. Each of them points to one destination, an online casino partner. No inner page carries one.
The site earns a commission from these links. The partner is not fixed and can change. They work only in Ontario, and a player has to be physically in Ontario to use them.
Ontario treats a private online casino as legal when two conditions are met: registration with the AGCO and an operating agreement in place with iGaming Ontario. Regulated sites appear in a list that iGaming Ontario publishes at igamingontario.ca. Any online casino can be checked against that list before play.
What is never paid
None of these sends money to this site: casinos, OLG, the province, help services. The links to the five casinos, to OLG.ca, to ConnexOntario and PlaySmart, and to government pages such as iGaming Ontario and the AGCO are plain links. Nobody pays for them. No casino deals appear on any page, and readers are offered no rewards.
Inner pages carry no paid links, and that includes each casino biography. On the home page, the scroll-driven timeline from 1996 to 2026 carries none of them either. In the menu, in the block under the opening screen and toward the page's end: those are the three places where the Ad links sit.

What is the reason the online partner has no name here?
No page of the guide names the partner, since that partner may change. The home page links to it are marked Ad. In Ontario, any online casino can be compared with the regulated sites that igamingontario.ca keeps on its list.
